It's a lot sadder when you think of 'going the distance' as a metaphor for passing away. Like signing to a family member you'll see them again one day.

Here I am again. Listening to one the most well-crafted songs I have heard in my lifetime. As the world descends more and more into moral confusion and chaos (sinfulness), fear of speaking the Truth in Love grips many of God's children. Remember, "Perfect Love casts out fear". (1John 4:18) Keeping our eyes on the Author and Finisher of our Faith is the only safe place to be. Speaking the Truth in Love! No matter the immediate outcome of our witness, we are held in the Eternal Promises of a Loving Father. Promises realized as Yes, and Amen in His Son, Jesus. Promises placed in our hearts and minds by His Holy Spirit! These promises will be the reality of the Eternal state that is coming. For now, we know in part, but when the perfect comes, we shall know fully even as now we are fully known.
